BDC
The team or function responsible for responding to inbound leads and calls and turning them into appointments.
Definition
Also called business development center
A business development center is the group that answers leads. Their job is not to sell the car; it is to get a real appointment on the calendar and hand the customer to the sales floor.
It exists because responding fast is a specialised, repetitive job that sales staff do badly when they are with a customer. Response time is the single strongest predictor of whether an internet lead converts, and it degrades quickly.
Most independent dealerships cannot staff a BDC around the clock, which is the gap AI lead response is aimed at: the nights, the weekends and the lunch hour when the leads still arrive.

DealersCloud runs inventory, the CRM, desking, the books and your dealer website on the same records - so the things in this glossary stop living in separate places.
