Up

A prospective customer arriving at the dealership, and the turn-taking system that decides who greets them.

Definition

Also called fresh up, walk-in

An up is a customer who arrives. The word also describes the rotation that decides which salesperson takes them, which is why stores talk about being up next.

Ups are still the highest-intent traffic a dealership gets - someone who drove to a lot is further along than someone who filled in a form - which is why logging them matters as much as logging internet leads.

The common failure is that walk-ins never make it into the CRM, so the store cannot follow up with anyone who did not buy that day, and cannot tell which advertising put them on the lot.

DealersCloud runs inventory, the CRM, desking, the books and your dealer website on the same records - so the things in this glossary stop living in separate places.
