Dealer glossary

Lead source

Where a lead came from - a marketplace, the dealership website, a phone call, or walk-in traffic.

Definition

Lead source is the attribution on a customer record. It answers which marketing spend produced the opportunity, and it is the basis for deciding what to keep paying for.

It is only as good as the capture. When leads arrive in several inboxes and get entered by hand, source data degrades quickly, and the reporting built on it becomes an opinion.

The useful version is source tracked all the way to a sold deal and its gross, not just to a lead count, because volume and profitability from a channel are frequently different stories.

DealersCloud runs inventory, the CRM, desking, the books and your dealer website on the same records - so the things in this glossary stop living in separate places.
