Buyers order

The document setting out the agreed terms of a vehicle sale: the vehicle, the price, the trade, the fees and the total.

Definition

Also called purchase order, bill of sale

The buyers order is the summary of what was agreed. It identifies the vehicle, states the selling price, applies the trade allowance and payoff, lists taxes and fees, and arrives at what the customer owes.

It is the document the rest of the paperwork is built from, so an error here propagates. Generating it from the deal that was desked, rather than re-entering the numbers, is how that is avoided.

What has to appear on it varies by state. Requirements are a question for your state authority and your compliance advisor, not for a software glossary.
